| The Earth House
,
The Earth House was the third of the new buildings to be
built under the recent re-development programme and was opened in 2004. It
has under-floor heating and full disability access
Access is through the boot room where boots and wet clothes may be left to
dry before users move via the hallway to the main lounge/diner and kitchen.
The kitchen is fully equipped for 50 people and the adjacent large
dining/activity room has a wood burning stove and can be divided to give a
separate sound-proof lounge area. There are plenty of tables and 100
chairs.
From the hallway a short flight of stairs leads to a
corridor with one 18 bedded dormitory, one 14 bedded dormitory and two 4
bedded leaders, rooms each with en suite facilities, giving a total capacity
of 40. There are also two toilet and shower rooms plus a disability
toilet/shower suite. A first aid room completes the accommodation. The upstairs
rooms can also be accessed by means of a lift.
For large events crockery for 100 can be made available.
Overlooking the main campsite, the Earth House has a
large patio where traditional board games are marked out using the patio
stones. Equipment is freely available for Chess and Draughts, Fox and
Geese, Alquerque, Nine Men’s Morris, and Shut the Box.
