Volunteer with us

There are a number of ways of volunteering to support the site.

Volunteering Days

Help us to maintain and develop the site by coming along to one of our volunteering days. We have jobs suitable for all ages and abilities and you are always guaranteed a warm welcome. Come for all or part of the day. You will need to bring a packed lunch but refreshments are provided. Please wear old clothes, strong shoes or boots. Gloves can be provided.

These days are also suitable for Guides / Scouts / Rangers / Explorers to attend as a group, with links to the programme this is a great way to check off another item from badges and awards.

Arrive for 9.30am and be finished by 4.30pm. If you’re interested please contact us on: NHWarden@ggme.co.uk

2026 dates: 7 Feb, 21 Feb, 22 Feb, 11 Apr, 12 Apr, 2 May, 5 Sep, 24 Oct, 25 Oct, 7 Nov.

We are offering a free night in Blackthorn free to groups who join a volunteering day and help us maintain and develop the site. Groups must be Guide age and older and have adult volunteers to support them throughout the day.

If the dates don’t suit your group but you are interested in getting involved please contact us, or get in touch if you would like to bring a group so we can find suitable activities for your group to support us with.

EventsĀ

Throughout the year we run a number of events at Northern Heights and are looking for volunteer to help. This can be a one off or an ongoing commitment.

Activities

Most activities at Northern Heights are self led by the groups. We do offer instructor led archery and orienteering. If you are interested in volunteering for either please get in touch. Archery instructors are required to hold an Archery GB qualification, if you are interested but don’t have this please get in touch and we can discuss options for supporting your training.

Site committee

Northern Heights is owned by Girlguiding Middlesex East and overseen by a site committee made up of volunteers. We’re always looking for people to get involved, if you’re interested please contact us via NHWarden@ggme.co.uk and put site committee in the subject.
